This is the best meal that we have in Portugal. Today is the 21st day when we travel around Portugal. Food is so great and testy. Not too salty and oily. We do enjoy every dishes. Seafood here are so fresh and tasteful. Workers are so friendly. Recommend to be here again

People told me that when you come to Lisbon, you must try arroz de marisco and Bacalhau à Brás, and, of course, enjoy them with a glass of Vinho Verde. But it wasn’t easy to find a restaurant that serves both dishes together. I saw several places offering arroz de marisco, but how could I leave Portugal without tasting proper bacalhau? I had tried a bacalhau dish once in Macau and didn’t like it, so I really wanted to change that memory. Many people say that when cooked well, bacalhau is truly delicious. Yes, they were right.
After searching hard, I found this restaurant. Since it was a busy dinner time for four people, I made a reservation in advance, and I appreciated that they contacted us beforehand to confirm our visit. The place had a very local atmosphere, but the service was professional. The female server who spoke fluent English made our meal comfortable and pleasant. The Vinho Verde she recommended was excellent and paired perfectly with the food.
We ordered three portions of arroz de marisco because we were craving rice, but we soon realized we could have ordered one per person. It was just that good. The dish was warm, soft, and deeply flavorful, perfect for the slightly chilly weather. It’s already delicious as is, but I recommend experimenting with a touch of pepper, olive oil, or piri piri sauce to adjust the flavor to your taste. Personally, I enjoyed starting with olive oil for a smoother taste, then finishing with piri piri for a spicy kick.
The Bacalhau à Brás was also wonderful. My younger brother, who normally doesn’t like fish, kept saying how savory, light, and tender it was. I had never seen him eat seafood so eagerly before(even mom was surprised too). They even offered us a complimentary glass of ginja, making the meal feel complete. We had such a delicious and satisfying family dinner in Lisbon. The restaurant is popular and often crowded, so I recommend booking in advance. Also, expect a bit of noise. After all, this isn’t fine dining, and that’s part of its charm.- Tipo de refeição

Staff are friendly. They explain everything clearly and give details about each dish. The seafood soup has a strong seafood flavour with bits of shrimp and mussels inside. Seafood rice is tasty and well-seasoned. The mussel meat is thick and full of garlic flavour. The codfish is just amazing. It is thick, juicy, and cooked perfectly. A must-try if you enjoy traditional Portuguese cod dishes.

Loved the seafood rice!! The grilled octopus was nice too. The staff were all friendly and they treated us a shot of ginja which is a Portuguese sweet wine made from berries . Highly recommended!

The service, food and atmosphere were top! 🤗🤗 We tried the shrimps as antree and the octopus rice! Both meals were really flavorful and tasty! The complimentary ginginha at the end was a really nice touch!

I had a pleasant experience here at bessa. Everything was wonderful. Friendly staff and wonderfully explained about the food as well. Although it gets very busy at night, i suggest you to make reservations if possible . All the waiter and waitresses are very welcoming and humble as well . You will not regret visiting here so you must visit whenever you are around lisbon.obrigada🫶

We have been so pleasantly surprised by the excellent food and for the outstanding quality of the service which made our dining experience truly delightful. We recommend the local dishes (seafood paella, bacalhau a la Bras and bacalhau au natas), but also the house wine and the dessert. We loved every minute of it!!! Traditional restaurant that wasn’t too touristy. We got recommended here by their sister restaurant around the corner and it didn’t disappoint. We each got one seafood paella, they were well sized (but not too much) for one person, good quality seafood and well flavoured/cooked rice! Couldn’t complain! Lovely staff! Free shot of homemade cherry port at the end!

This meal was delicious! We attempted to go to their sister restaurant, but it was full and we were directed to Bessa. So incredibly glad we were! The octopus was so fresh, the garlic shrimp, the bread, the codfish…. All amazing! And the shot of Porto we shared with Senor Americo was great! He was so sweet as were all the servers. Highly recommend

The foods were amazing! We had Bacalhau com Natas, Ameijoas, and Arroz de Marisco. Everything was so goooood! Youzin and other staff were kind and very responsive. Strongly recommend this restaurant
